company History

Unisensor ApS was founded in 1997 by Tom Olesen and Poul Hansen.

Soon after, Preben Damgaard joined them in developing optical equipment for microscopy and distance measurements. A large sensor project with Danfoss gave the new company a good start. At the time Unisensor was located in Tom Olesen's farm in Gørløse north of Copenhagen, but in 1999 new projects required larger facilities, and the company moved to Herlev near Copenhagen.

In 2000 Norfo placed a large order for the development and production of a sensor system for the food industry, which proved to be an important product for a long time. The same year Unisensor moved back to Gørløse, now to larger facilities. At this time 4 people were employed in Unisensor, but new projects required ever more people.

In 2003 Unisensor, still groving, was transformed into an incorporated (A/S) by increasing investments. By 2005 10 people were employed at Unisensor.

In 2005 the first medical device contracts were made, and this lead to a further, considerable increase in the number of employees and hence the facilities needed. Also, Jens Haugaard joined the company as general manager. In the beginning of 2007 Unisensor moved to Allerød, and the number of employees grew to more than 20.

In 2010 Unisensor deployed a quality management system and was certified according to ISO 9001 and ISO 13485.
