Unisensor has developed a novel optical technology, FluidScope™, for rapid in-vitro analysis of biological fluid-based samples.
The technology handles all types of biological objects including mammalian cells, bacteria and yeast in multi- and mono- culture samples. The technology allows for both morphological differentiation between objects and monitoring of growth and mobility kinetics over time. These properties make the technology versatile and flexible compared to existing methods.
Fluidscope™ is the technology within most of Unisensor's products.
The FluidScope™ technology is based on optical sectioning in combination with a novel scanning principle (patent pending). The result is a system able to image all objects in a volume sample in optimal focus allowing for accurate morphological identification. A bi-product of this technique is the ability to extract 3D information for all objects.
Furthermore, the construction of the scanning technique facilitates an arbitrarily large sample volume, which is fundamentally limited only by the size of the sample container and the desired maximum measurement duration. As a result, it is possible to obtain high statistical accuracy for differential counting even for objects present only in low concentrations.
Temporal information can be extracted at up to 10 frames per second depending on the nature of the sample, which enables characterising Brownian motion of objects in the sample. The possibility of combining morphological and temporal information facilitates measurements on complex samples containing multiple types of objects while being able to distinguish objects clearly from each other.
See the Application pages to explore the optional use of the Fluidscope™ technology.
